Dawn Davis is a Baltimore native and Active-Duty Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. Although she is an IT by trade, she has always had a passion for serving God’s people. As a Senior Enlisted Leader in the Navy, Dawn has the distinct privilege of serving Sailors at all levels of leadership, from the most junior Recruits to senior Officers. Through her Naval career, she has completed training as a Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Victim Advocate, and she currently serves as the Drug & Alcohol Program Advisor for her Command. In addition to her personal experience with childhood sexual trauma, her work in these capacities has provided her with a first-hand glimpse at the devastating impact of both past and present trauma and has effectively fueled her desire to provide a means by which God’s people become healed, whole and free from the bondage of sexual abuse.
As the Founder & CEO of I AM H.E.R. Inc., a nonprofit organization that seeks to break the cycle of brokenness by providing faith-based counseling services to women and children survivors of sexual abuse & trauma, Dawn has resolved to not only give purpose to her own pain, but she has partnered with several Christian therapists to deliver a holistic approach to the healing process. In short, I AM H.E.R. believes that the only way to truly heal is by combining Jesus with therapy and she will not rest until survivors everywhere are able to use their voice to help end the stigma surrounding this deeply rooted, traumatic experience. In addition to having multiple IT certifications, Dawn is a graduate of University of Maryland Global Campus (BS, 2015), she is a member of Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority Incorporated and she currently serves at Restoration Church, DMV under the leadership of Pastor Renelle Johnson.
Dawn lives with her children Keith (21) and Mailynn (4) and is currently stationed in Norfolk, VA.
